Lady Julia Osborne’s expectations of her third season are really very simple. Make a few appearances, avoid her many suitors, and most important of all, spend time with her sister before escaping back to the country. The end. What she doesn’t expect is for her spinster aunt to arrive last minute to act as her chaperone with a list of eligible bachelors as long as the lorgnette she wields.
Mister Nathan Carter may be considered exceedingly eligible, but being the third son of a baron in the hustle and bustle of elite London society means he’s not anyone’s first pick. Even if his meager chance of inheritance did not chase them away, his dabbles in business alone would keep him safe from matchmaking mamas that abound in the streets of Mayfair… or so he thought.
Finding themselves thrown together as they watch their friends succumb to love one by one, Lady Julia and Nathan form a reluctant alliance and agree to help one another muddle through the rest of the season. They forget, however, that no one is safe, not from meddlesome matchmakers, and certainly not from love.
Set in England during the Regency era, Running from Rakes is a standalone romantic comedy in the Meddlesome Matchmakers series.
